What you need to know to come and fly in our sky

 

 WWGC facilities

Operating from the Papawai Airfield the site includes a brand-new hangar, holding over 10 gliders, a training centre complete with a flight simulator, kitchen and bathroom facilities, a sleeping cabin and landscaped areas for pilot's caravans and tents.

Camping On-Site

We have room for a number of tents and a limited number of caravans, but no sites have water or power available on- site.

The Training Centre / Clubrooms are however nearby. There will be found two showers, three toilets, one washing machine, one stove/oven and coffee/tea making facilities.

  • Tent and Caravan site Fees are $15 per person per night.

  • For availability or to make a booking, please get in touch via the contact form.

  • One last note – no pets please – our airfield is surrounded by a working farm.

WWGC SOPs

These documents define procedures and required knowledge relevant to pilots and visitors participating in Wellington Wairarapa Gliding Club (WWGC) Operations at Papawai airfield and when WWGC members are operating club equipment at another site. It does not extend to members operating off site using non-club-owned equipment.

It is important for all visiting pilots to have a clear understanding of our SOPs prior to coming to our Papawai airfield.
